HOTELS : Hotel La Roseraie

Set in the "Golden Triangle" of 1001 chateaux between Angouleme and Perigueux, at the gates of the superb village of Brantome - also called the "Venice of the Perigord" - the Domaine de la Roseraie is a wonderfully renovated "chartreuse" (a secluded country-style estate) standing on 10 acres of a peaceful park and gardens. All rooms are individually and very attentively decorated, with a wealth of fine antique furniture and carpets. Says John Latourette, a happy returning client of Escapades : "Everything, including the bedding, is personalized and shows a woman's touch." Separate little units are very attractive and have small patios with chairs and tables in front. The restaurant proposes excellent, traditional but creative Cuisine prepared by highly regarded professionals. There is a nice covered outside sitting area for breakfast in nice weather or for a drink before dinner. The service is extremely attentive and Madame and Monsieur Roux, the owners, are always there to take care of your every need or request.
